Welcome Hatchworth!

We'd like to welcome into the family the latest addition to Steam Powered Giraffe, Hatchworth the robot!

Some may recognize our latest addition as our former drummer Samuel Luke. He has taken up the reins to become the next automaton performer in the act.

You can catch Hatchworth's premiere performance at Youmacon in Detroit, Michigan this November! We've got a concert the night of Friday, November 2nd and we will be putting on special panels and signing autographs Saturday, November 3rd.

November 30th through December 2nd, the robots will be at Teslacon 2012 in Middleton, Wisconsin. While we enjoy everything the event has to offer, we'll also be mingling and promoting our big concert for 2013's Teslacon convention. It's about a year away, but you can still get your chance to meet the performers with photo ops and exclusive panels at this year's Teslacon.

The new year brings even more exciting events and concerts (see them lining up to the right on this page) as well as new projects from Walter's Steam Man Band, so attune your ears to the grinding gears for more announcements soon! Or better yet...sign up for our Newsletter!

Have a happy October everyone!

The 2¢ Show Now Available!

The antique androids from Steam Powered Giraffe announce today the release of their second studio album, “The 2¢ Show”!

“The 2¢ Show” gives listeners a one-way ticket with the robots on-the-road through an antique America that is filled with both magic and mystery. Join Rabbit, The Spine, and The Jon as they travel to romanticized echoes of various eras. Eras such as the wild and weird west, where Jackalopes yodeled alongside singing cowboys and Giant Rattlesnakes were king. Aboard an enchanted steamboat, they head deep into a mystical south, finding Bog Spirits who boogie to twisted Zydeco tunes. From a decaying past, dieselpunk fables and crooning records melt with electric folk pop and psychedelic radiation to create the unique, yet timeless sound Steam Powered Giraffe makes.

Released today with the new album is the group's newest music video, “Automatonic Electronic Harmonics,” one of the featured tracks on “The 2¢ Show.” Click here to visit the video on YouTube!

In celebration of the album's release, Steam Powered Giraffe is holding a special party in their hometown on Friday, June 8th in San Diego, California. Join the robots for a historical night where many of the new album's songs will be played LIVE for the first time!

Late June sees the robots back at the World Famous San Diego Zoo for over 70 days of performances from June 23rd – September 4th. You'll be able to enjoy the new songs and all of the amazing animals at the zoo all summer long!

“The 2¢ Show” is available for purchase today from the Steam Powered Giraffe website on a physical CD that ships with a 32 page mini art book. Inside are the lyrics to the songs and beautiful illustrations by Bunny Bennett, Jonathan Sprague, and Samuel Luke.

The album will also be purchasable from iTunes and many other online music distributors!

So grab your copy, settle in, and enjoy the latest release from San Diego's own Steam Powered Giraffe!

Become and Engineer-eteer!

Hey y'all!

This is Rabbit, coming to you live from my computer, on official Steam
Powered Giraffe business. The gang and I are excited to announce that
the future has arrived and we think you'll love it as much as we do!

We've teamed up with Patronism.com to bring you an insider's look into
our whole creative process, and a way to keep the engines running on
all our steam powered adventures, past, present and future.

Introducing... the Steam Powered Giraffe Engineer-eteers!

When you become an Engineer-eteer, we'll start stoking the coals of
creativity together. You can track the progress of our new album and
DVD, watch private video blogs from our members, and get complete
access to our entire song library, including lyrics, chords, artwork,
and behind-the-scenes information on how we bring it all together...
all while personally ensuring all these projects and visions make it
out of our heads and into the great big world!

And the world is big... it can be a cold, unforgiving place for a robot.

Even with full steam power, we'd have to sell 12,388 tracks
per month on iTunes to make minimum wage (for one of us), or 4.5
million plays per month on Spotify to do the same. We are huge in our
heads, and tall in our shoes, but we admit... we're still a few months
away from accomplishing that steam powered goal.

On the other hoof, 120 Engineer-eteers at $10 a month will generate
more income than those other sites, every month. We can put all of it
directly into more creativity to give to you, and that you can give to
your friends. That seems more like the way it should be! An easy,
creative space for all of us to work together, and believe me... it
takes a whole army to keep the boilers burning!

An army of Engineer-eteers!

Does that sound like you? If so, click:
http://www.patronism.com/steampoweredgiraffe and we'll see you in the
Engineer-eteer's room!

Ever grateful,
Bunny Bennett

Kickstarter Success!

You guys did it! We successfully raised our goal of $3000!- Aaaand then some! The final donation count is $10,786! We can't believe how you guys responded to our call for help, and you totally blew away our expectations.
We'll be sorting through the details to send out your rewards as soon as we can- Expect updates to keep you in the loop, and those of you getting early copies of the 2-Cent show don't have to wait long- May is the targeted production wrap up. Once we have those puppies in our hands, we'll sign them and ship them out to you first!
Friends, from the entire band we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
A lot of people have been asking if we'll be doing more Kickstarter fundraisers in the future to help fund more tangible projects- and I think with the success of this, Kickstarter is a great way not only to realize our more expensive endeavors, but give you some additional cool stuff! Take care and we'll hopefully see you on the road!

March 31st we've got a real treat for you San Diego California residence! An event organized by our fan community! Featuring a plethora of entertainers ranging from dancing to magic, plus games, prizes, and food! And of course, acoustic performances by Steam Powered Giraffe! This is the Spring Carnival at Balboa Park, and the best part is that it's FREE! Granted it is a fundraiser, but here's your chance to see how the robots started out- right off the prado.

If you've never been to an acoustic SPG show, here are a few helpful hints to make the experience the best it can be:

1. Be absolutely quiet when the robots are playing (except for the appropriate choruses) - since there is no amplification, we need to use the natural resonance and acoustics of the park, and it sounds much better when nobody is talking over us. You'd be surprised at how quieter we sound when not on stage

2. Let the kids sit in front!

3. Bring your own chair and shade. This is at a park after all.

It is our honor to do this special busking show for you, so please remember to tip us if you appreciate the robots, and make sure to bring all your friends and family!

We'll see you there!

The 2¢ Show

Late spring 2012 brings the highly anticipated release of “The 2¢ Show,” Steam Powered Giraffe's second studio album.
The 2¢ Show gives listeners a one-way ticket with the robots on-the-road through an antique America that is filled with both magic and mystery.

We're kicking things off with a music video of our popular song “Honeybee,” which appears on the new album.

We've also posted three other official performance videos of our songs, "Me and My Baby (Saturday Night)", "Captain Albert Alexander", and "Ju Ju Magic", so be sure to check out our YouTube Channel here for all the robot fun!

This new album comes out during the start of SPG's touring endeavors, which will literally take the band on the road across America! Our new songs and bits leave San Diego to head for The World Steam Expo in Dearborn, Michigan for Memorial Day Weekend in May. We hope to make a few stops on our way to and from the convention, and to continue touring up the California coast in the fall.
(For booking availability, please call (619) 971-3294 or e-mail steampoweredgiraffe@gmail.com)

Here's where we need your help so we can bring our show across America! We have to take our recently acquired tour bus on the road, and already repairs have started to set us back. With the cost of maintenance and fuel, we're in need of donations to make sure we can continue performing outside of Southern California.
To anyone who donates more than $100, their names will appear inside the new album and we will be sending them a signed copy of  The 2¢ Show before its release date. There are also some rewards for other dollar amounts!
Spread the word, donate, be immortalized on our CD, and help be a part of the future of Steam Powered Giraffe!

We've got a bunch of shows and events that are starting to pop up, and we're posting about three of them this month.

March 16th will see the robots back in San Diego California for a live concert! With extended sets, you're sure to hear your favorite song, so head on down St. Patty Day's Eve for some toe tapping fun! Costumes are always encouraged, and there will be a raffle for SPG goodies. For our 21 and up guests, join the band after the show for drinks in the VIP Lounge for only $5 more. (The Spine will be drinking water though, as he does not drink.)

You can reserve your tickets for this show online right now by clicking here!

Then, right in time for Spring Break, the Cavalcadium (The Official Steam Powered Giraffe Fan Club) will be throwing another carnival on March 31st! The turn out was successful enough last time, that they thought they'd throw another one, this time fundraising for our touring endeavors. We'll have more details as they emerge, but be prepared for an afternoon of fun and games with special appearances by the people behind the robots, and possibly an acoustic performance by the robots themselves! Click here to visit the Facebook Event.

For all you non-Californians, the robots will be headed east for The World Steam Expo in Dearborn, Michigan! This trek is a long one for us, and we're looking for help to raise enough money to assist! Click here to donate!

While the details of this convention are still in planning, expect to see the robots in concert along with plenty of panels for a look behind-the-scenes at the artists who make SPG work!
