We've got some great shows for you all this month and we also have some new merchandise to sink your teeth into!

On Friday, January 13 2012, Steam Powered Giraffe will be headlining The Queen's Dinner Theatre at Her Royal Majesty's Steampunk Symposium aboard The Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. The entire event runs from Friday January 13th to Monday January 16th and hosts a plethora of panels and events to tickle your Victorian Science Fiction fancy. The week after the robots will be heading out of California for Clockwork Con in Austin Texas! This three day convention will have a variety of panels on all things Steampunk, live crafting demonstrations, and a variety of unique vendors. It will also feature two nights of performances and musical acts to satisfy both your eyes and ears. Steam Powered Giraffe will be performing Friday night at 6:00pm as well as on Saturday night, January 21st at 8:00pm.Click here for more information about this event.

New Album and an Uncle Ralphie Show!

On the road to the release of our next studio album, we present this intermission disc that captures the fun of our live shows. Utilizing live recordings from Summer 2011, we've added a faux audience to create a show that never was.

All your favorite songs are present with the popular renditions we do at our concerts. And like our performances on stage, the album features bits with the robot characters and their zany shtick.

Steam Powered Giraffe & Otherwise Entertainment are proud to present a new cabaret show!

Ralph Benedict, AKA "Uncle Ralphie" is what happens when a mime and an imaginary character have a son.

Over the hundreds of years he has lived, Uncle Ralphie has rallied various entertainers from all over the universe to put on unforgettable spectacles. Spectacles such as Uncle Ralphie's Magic Jukebox Band or The Bayou Music Festival. The Bayou Music Festival was headlined by none other than Colonel Walter's Steam Man Band Steam Powered Giraffe aboard the steamboat the S. S. Biscuiteer, where the music became so hot and loud it burned right through the deck!

Though decades have passed since Uncle Ralphie last put on one of his events, he has returned from Kazooland with a colorful cavalcade of characters he calls, "Uncle Ralphie's Magical Musical Sideshow Spectacular." Joining to headline is Walter's own steam powered robots, supported by an arsenal of entertainers which include acrobats, belly dancers, contortionists, and more!

Motors hum and hydraulics hiss in tune with the catchy melodies of antique robots. And the maniacal laughter of Uncle Ralphie summons forth dazzling spectacles by otherworldly circus entertainers.

Holiday Masquerade and Conventions Galore!

We've got quite the evening planned for you all on December 10th. A steampunk holiday masquerade ball! Don your finest or most festive evening/masquerade attire and join us on San Diego's largest and best dance floor! For this special alternative Victorian Ball, MC Walter Nelson will present L'Heure Verte, performing a stimulating range of authentic period music, and Steam Powered Giraffe. Halloween Show!

The Steam Powered Giraffe Halloween show finally returns in force Friday, October 21st for an evening of spooky fun suitable for all ages!
The doors open at 7 PM and the festivities run until 11 PM.

$10 at the door - And remember, this show is suitable for All Ages!

Bring your friends and family for the unforgetable concert experience that is Steam Powered Giraffe. Hydraulics hiss and motors hum as P. A. Walter's Steam Men charm and dazzle with robot movement and catchy original melodies.

In addition to San Diego's robots performing, the bands samhears and It Says Its Dead will also be playing their rocking tunes.
There will be a raffle with prizes midway through the night, so get to the venue early and purchase your tickets for $1 each.

Spooky Steampunk is the theme for the evening, but don't let that stop you from wearing whatever costume you desire! Do be sure to dress up though, because you could win in the costume contest and take home one of our trophies!

Album One Re-release!

The robots sure had a blast performing at the San Diego Zoo for two and a half months straight and they'd like to thank everyone who came out and supported them. They sold out of their Album One CD at the Zoo and left our inventory completely empty! No need to worry though, we now have a brand new batch of Album One CDs in stock and they are ready to be shipped to your door.

This new batch of Album One CDs features updated artwork and a brand new song! If you already own a copy of our Album One CD, but like collecting things, feel free to order this new version so you can grow your SPG merchandise memorabilia and satisfy your OCD. The updated artwork and the new song are also now featured and are available on iTunes and other digital music distributors.

We know many of you have been asking about where you can see Steam Powered Giraffe perform now that Nighttime Zoo is over, and we're happy to say that we have lots and lots of performance opportunities for you all to look forward to. We've got performances at upcoming conventions and theater shows, and much more. We're also happy to announce that we have a few "out-of-state" shows for all you non-Californians. We will be posting upcoming performance information as soon as the shows are solidified and the dates draw nearer. We do have one upcoming performance in California that we hope to see many of you at. Steam Powered Giraffe will be performing completely acoustic sets at Arts Alive on the Coastal Rail Trail Sunday, October 2nd, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. If you have never seen the robots perform their act acoustically, then you're in for a treat! We'll have a few Album One CDs on hand for purchase, and our human Mr. Reed will be tagging along as well. We hope to see some familiar faces!

Did you know that Steam Powered Giraffe has it's very own official fan club? Of course you did! And did you know that this fan club has it's very own online forums for members to discuss all things Steam Powered Giraffe and other artsy things? You've known about it all along obviously! Well there is a new feature on the forums where members can adopt their very own Steam Powered Giraffe, take care of it, customize it's finish, level it up, and dress it up in awesome unlockable hats! Colonel P. A. Walter VI has a message to all those interested and you can read his message by visiting the official Steam Powered Giraffe Fan Club The Cavalcadium of Peter Walter.

June 10th will see the robots returning to Queen Bee's to put on a concert entitled "Boiler Busters", which will feature the bands, Sam Hears, Chambers, and of course Steam Powered Giraffe. Best of all our drummer Samuel Luke is in all three bands!

They are only $10 each (plus shipping & handling) and feature the SPG logo in all it's geary glory. These are super high quality 100% preshrunk cotton 3-color silk screen printed shirts and are top notch in comparison to anything we've previously offered through our Zazzle store. The shirts come in a variety of sizes and you can pick from two different types, "Regular" and "Feminine Cut" styles. We will be accepting online orders for these T-Shirts from now until May 22nd, at which point we will stop accepting T-Shirt orders temporarily. The Robots Saddle Up and Ready Samurai Swords

Steam Powered Giraffe just finished up the first run of their Clockwork Vaudeville show and it was a success! The 725 seat Birch North Park Theatre in San Diego was completely sold out and we couldn't have asked for a better turnout. We'd like to thank everyone involved with the production, but more importantly everyone who came out and showed their support! We hope each and every one of you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. We will definitely be remounting this show in the not to distant future as it exceeded all expectations. Stay tuned to our website, Facebook, Twitter, and e-Newsletter for updates.

The month of March see's the robots saddling up and heading out West (well actually East since they're from California) to Tuscon Arizona for the Wild Wild West Convention. The robots (and Mr. Reed) will be performing at the VIP Dinner event on the evening of the 3rd, as well as other multiple locations and stages throughout the remainder of the convention. If you're headed out on your trusty horse, trained hippopotamus, or giant mechanical spider, we'd love to see you out there! We'll be bringing our CDs and Buttons and peddling them to the local yodeling jackelopes.

At the end of March, the San Diego Anime Conji Convention will be honoring Steam Powered Giraffe by having us play on the evening of the 25th. We're thinking we were invited because each of us are over power level 9,000 and The Jon has mastered the art of Mothra Origami Battle Riding. You will also be able to see the robots before their performance on the same day at the "Meet the Guests" panel.

We have a ton of stuff in the works (like our second Album) and a plethora of upcoming shows. Thank you to everyone who enjoys our work and comes to our shows! We love each and every one of you and will give hugs on request, except for The Spine, because he doesn't know where you have been.

Lots of you told us that we should release Honeybee as a single, and little did you know that we had this up our sleeves the whole time! Muwahaha! This new single has been released in anticipation of our second album, which will debut later this year, so grab your copy, listen, and get pumped for our second album! Our show, Clockwork Vaudeville, on February 19th in San Diego at the Birch Theatre, is by far the grandest show we've ever put on. Do you like acrobatics? Juggling? Dancing? Knife throwers? WOO! OH YEAH! February Shows!

It's almost here singing robot aficionados! Our grand Clockwork Vaudeville show opens February 19th at the North Park Theatre in San Diego and you're not going to want to miss it! When best laid plans with a time machine go awry, the robots and their improbable cast of performers try and make their way back to the present in time for the show itself! Joining the robots on stage are a cavalcade of daring acrobats, dizzying jugglers, cunning contortionists, aerobatic aerialists, and a world famous knife thrower! We also have a show February 12th at The Queen Bee's Art and Cultural Center, where we'll be playing with Abney Park and The Tragic Tantrum. It's entitled "A Night of Spectacular Amusements" and it's jam-packed with tons of steam punk entertainment, art, and...amusements!

For all of you patrons looking for our acoustic shows at Balboa Park, you're in luck! We have one final Balboa Park show for the month of January where we'll be promoting our upcoming shows and busking for your hard earned dollar. Robots and Comedic Acrobats/Dancers!

The Platt Brothers are three real-life brothers whose comedic dance and acrobatics have taken them from local San Diego stages to tours across the US, and internationally broadcast television such as America's Got Talent, and the Chabad Telethon. Their self-titled show earned them "Best Live Comedy" in 2009, and "Best Family Entertainment" in 2010 by San Diego's A-List. You might already know this, but Steam Powered Giraffe took third place for "Best Live Comedy" in San Diego's A-List in 2009 and 2010 respectively, so it's only natural that The Platt Brothers would want to join forces with the robots and invite them to perform with them.

In their new show, Seven Days of Awesome, The Platt Brothers are joined by some of their most talented and entertaining friends to create a week of unique and unforgettable shows. From an Emmy award-winning storyteller to musical robots (that's us, Steam Powered Giraffe), every night features new and different performers alongside the hilarious and energetic Platt Brothers.

We've got some magical Sunday Balboa Park performances for you this month, so take a look at our "Upcoming Events" and calendar over on the side there and see which dates fit with your winter schedule. We look forward to seeing you! You might want to bring a jacket though, because during the freezing San Diego winter weather the temperatures have been known to plummet to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Robot Shows in October!

Steam Powered Giraffe has a plethora of shows this month! First off we have five Balboa Park shows on October 3rd, 9th, 10th, 23rd, and the 24th. You can catch the robots performing in front of the pond near the botanical garden on these days. Check out the Upcoming Shows list over on the right of our website for exact times. Next, The Oceanside Music Festival on October 12th has the bots performing at the Oceanside Museum of Art, where they will be showcasing their robotic harmonies and catchy tunes to the Oceansiders. Then back in San Diego on October 28th, the automatons will be performing at Claire De Lune Coffee Lounge in North Park as part of the Emerging Arts Leaders' North Park Arts Crawl. Finally, for all you vampires, werewolves, spidermen, and vampiric werespiders, the robots will be finishing up the month at the Halloween Funday event at Balboa Park San Diego. There will be family oriented events throughout the park, so wear your costumes and bring the kids! There's plenty to do in Balboa for Halloween! (Note: Steam Powered Giraffe will be performing specifically at The Spanish Village Art Center for this event)

Lastly, Steam Powered Giraffe was voted 2nd best Live Comedy Act in San Diego from the Best of 10news.com's A-List contest. We'd like to thank everyone who supported and voted for us, we are very honored.

Steam Powered Giraffe has once again been nominated for 10news.com's San Diego A-List! Last year they came in 3rd Place for Best Live Comedy Act. You can show your support by voting for Steam Powered Giraffe here.

There are a ton of shows this month and next month and we'd love to see you at them! The robots successfully renewed their permit for Balboa Park this August and have added a plethora of Balboa Park show dates to their calendar. Later this month the bots will be heading up to Ontario California to perform for two nights at the Ontario Mills Mall, so if you happen to be in that area, feel free to join us! Then next month, SPG will be performing at the event A Night of Steampunk to Benefit Fybromaligia in Ventura California. There are no shortages of performances any time soon, and with the majority of our public shows being free, there's even more reason to come out and take a gander at the witty mechanical men (and one girl robot).

SPG Show Near Comic Con!

San Diego's original singing robot comedy act is winding up for a new show Thursday, July 22nd. The week of Comic Con!

The quartet of quirky robots are joined by one-man-band Michael Reed of The Smart Brothers as they weave a laugh-out-loud colorful performance imbued with pantomime illusion and folk inspired songs.

Opening for the robots are the local Harry Potter band Rumbledore,

which will be followed by a live art showdown by SPG members Jon Sprague and Christopher Bennett, as they race to paint portraits of lucky raffle winners.

There will be prizes to win via Raffle, Steam Powered Giraffe merchandise for sale, and a tournament of the SPG Card Game.

Kazooks! We're happy to announce the unveiling of SPG's official fan club, The Cavalcadium of Peter Walter, which took place at FACEMELTAPALOOZA April 30th.
Peter Walter, the current caretaker of the steam powered robots, has created a community for fans to meet, be creative, and help promote SPG.
The website has a fully functioning forum with a built in chat system, promotional material for you to use, and a budding Lore section exploring the intricacies of the SPG universe.

May means Vegas for the robots, and you'll find them performing at the First Friday Art Festival May 7th somewhere in the gigantic span of twenty blocks with over 100 performers! The festivities last from 6 PM - 10 PM. We also have several Free Balboa Park performances this month, including one on Mother's Day!

FACEMELTAPALOOZA was a wonderful success with the use of better audio equipment, the first live performance of Not Alone, and SPG's new song, Fabricated Blue. You may have heard Steam Powered Giraffe is saving up to go to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Europe this August. This is the largest busking festival in the world and will let the robots visit many countries, sharing the act with new faces and fans outside the USA!
Now while pinching pennies at Balboa Park, selling albums, and scrounging up paying gigs has been the game plan, we're asking for your help to fund our trip. To send David, Jon, Erin, Christopher, and Mike to Europe, we need to accumulate $8,000 for the airplane tickets!

We've been putting together some great shows for you where we'll be accepting donations, including FACEMELTAPALOOZA April 30th. But we're actively seeking other paying gigs to fund the trip, so if you'd like to help out but want to get some bang for your buck, remember that the robots are programmed for endless entertainment possibilities. Stage shows, roaming ambience, street busking, etc.

Come May the robots and Mr. Reed are packing their bags for their first show outside of California! Friday, May 7th is the First Friday Monthly Art Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Spanning more than 20 city blocks and hosting over 100 artists on the sidewalks and gallery spaces, First Friday is a whimsical night of creativity featuring improv on the street, artists, vendors and much much more!

You'll be able to catch Steam Powered Giraffe along with the Amazing Mr. Reed busking in Vegas from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM all over the festival grounds. And you'll know exactly where to see them via LIVE Twitter and Facebook updates!

SPG Webcomic & Anime Convention Performance

Kazooks! The folks behind Steam Powered Giraffe now bring you a unique look into the universe of the robots with the Steam Powered Giraffe Webcomic.

Every Sunday the online comic book updates with a new page for your reading pleasure, written by the robot performers and drawn by Christopher Bennett (Rabbit). Its a fun journey into imagination and the surreal; where the comedic dialogue the robots speak in their live performances suddenly comes to life in a funny graphic novel, and it is readily available at your fingertips online.

If you're hungry for seeing the robots live, March still has some opportunities to catch the robots performing at Balboa Park on weekends, and April is ripe with performances. Facemeltapalooza is April 30th, but you can also catch the robots April 10th at the Anime Conji Masquerade during halftime!

Anime Conji is San Diego's premiere Anime convention, and runs April 9-11, 2010. Saturday, April 10th is the Costume Masquerade and is from 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM, with an intermission featuring Steam Powered Giraffe. Click here for registration details, location, and more!

Get ready for Facemeltapalooza! Steam Powered Giraffe is putting on another stage show at the all-ages venue Queen Bee's Art and Cultural Center April 30th from 7pm to 11pm. Alongside the robots will be Random Gibberish, Xach the Ripper, and of course Mr. Reed. The bots will also be accepting donations at Facemeltapalooza for their trip to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, so they can afford plane tickets. Steam Powered Giraffe's Album One along with their card game will also be available for purchase at the show. Check out the event by clicking here!

Performances Galore!

The bots are hard at work on many new shows in the following months, and February holds some great opportunities to see the robots for Free!

First off, there is a LIVE Radio Interview of Steam Powered Giraffe coming up Monday, February 8th on Griffin Radio. Isaac Godina will be hosting on his block from 10 AM - 12 PM. Tune in on the internet to hear what the members of SPG have been up to, and you can even call in live at (619) 644-7287.

The Grossmont College Student Talent Festival is February 24th, from 10 AM - 2 PM, and features local San Diego performance talent including Steam Powered Giraffe, SamHears, the Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble, and many more of Grossmont's finest entertainers. You won't have to pay a dime for this wonderful event, so bring your friends and help build an audience for the students at Grossmont College! Click here for more details and directions.

Last, but certainly not least, the robots have a slew of free Balboa Park weekend performances lined up for February, which you can plan to attend by looking at our calendar here. We have quite a lot of updates this month and we're going to cram them into this single news update!

We have another stage show January 22nd at Queen Bee's entitled "The 114 Year Anniversary Show". This show is set to rival our album release show by being even better! Click here for more details!

On one last final update, Steam Powered Giraffe is planning on street performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August. We're accepting donations and raising money for this trip currently, and plan to make a few stops at other cities on our way to the festival. It should be quite the experience for us robots and event-goers alike.

Another live video interview on SPG TV through Livestream is planned in the next few weeks. The robots will once again be answering questions and dishing out the details on super secret stuff. Steam Powered Giraffe's Album Release Show completed Friday October 30th, 2009. The people lucky enough to be in attendance got their hands on SPG's first album "Album One"! A few of them were even more lucky than just lucky and walked away with a free "Steam Powered Giraffe: The Card Game" deck. The evening was a blast for the robots and audience members alike (or so we were told). We'd like to thank everyone who showed up and supported the robots. There was a lot of love in the air that evening! We'd also like to thank our good friend Xach the Ripper for opening for us. His lovely music enticed the audience right before our costume contest, which also went off without a hitch. Congratulations to the winners!

We have received a lot of emails and messages asking us when and where people can purchase their own copy of the album.
As of right now, the physical version of "Album One" is available for purchase on our website for $15 (plus shipping and handling). Click on the brand new STORE button to make your purchase!

"Album One" will also be available on iTunes and other digital music distribution sites mid-November (we'll post an update when it's available for download). The digital version of the album from iTunes will also include a digital version of the art and lyric booklet found in the physical version of our album.

On one final note, you will notice that the SPG Card Game is available for purchase in our store as well. We have a limited quantity of these and once they are gone, there will never be any more of them...ever!

A-List & October Shows!

Steam Powered Giraffe recently made the top 5 on 10news.com's A-List! Thank you to everyone for their continued support of us robots.
We have several new shows in October in which you can catch us performing.

We will be performing at Legoland California every Saturday for their Brick-or-Treat Party Nights. This event is perfect for the youngsters, and there are plenty of special activities including a costume contest for the little ones. For more information please visit Legoland's website here.

Balboa Park Shows For August

Comic-Con Photo Contest!

Hello Steam Powered Robot and Comic Book Enthusiasts!

The robots are hard at work on the new album, but Rabbit has taken some time off to
stalk the halls of the San Diego convention center Thursday - Sunday for the annual San Diego Comic-Con, and we're holding a little contest to give you fans some nifty prizes.

All you have to do is track down Rabbit at the convention center and snap a photo with him. Send in your photo to steampoweredgiraffe@gmail.com, and after the convention we'll choose the two best entries to win spiffy prizes!

You can track down Rabbit by any means necessary (Hint: the SPG phone number is a cell phone). But keep in mind anyone who sends a text message to Rabbit will be disqualified because we can't afford to pay for texts on our number!

July is Recording Month

As some of you may have already found out via our MySpace and Facebook pages, Steam Powered Giraffe was not able to obtain a permit at Balboa Park this month (luck of the draw). This means that throughout the month of July we will not be performing at Balboa Park. We are however hard at work finishing up our album and have replaced our weekend performances at Balboa Park with time in the recording studio as well as time rehearsing new material. We will inform fans of any upcoming performances this month as they develop. Thank you to all our fans and friends for their continued support!

New Single With An Album On The Way!

If you hadn't already heard, Steam Powered Giraffe just recently released their first single "On Top of the Universe". You can give it a listen on their MySpace Music Page here. This single will also be available for purchase and download on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and other online stores where digital music is sold in a few weeks. This new single just happens to be a taste of what's to come. Steam Powered Giraffe announced last week in their online Newsletter that they will be releasing their very first album this Summer!
As always, you can catch free performances by Steam Powered Giraffe at Balboa Park San Diego on most Saturdays and Sundays (check the show calader for exact times and dates). You can also spend some time with the bots this Summer at the San Diego County Fair, where they'll be roaming the fairgrounds and stirring up musical acoustic goodness (times and days to be announced). There are two notable shows this month in May. Be sure to catch our performance alongside our very good friends Tragic Tantrum Cabaret and others on the 16th in San Diego. That same weekend we also happen to be performing at the Temecula Music Fest, so mark your calendars if you're ready for a fun-filled weekend of Steam Powered Giraffe.

On one last note, the robots have entered the recording studio and are hard at work on their very first album. Keep and eye and an ear out for sneak peaks, as a single is bound to be released before the album's completion.

Oceanside Stage Show Is A Hit!

This past weekend's performance by the robots of Steam Powered Giraffe at the Sunshine Brooks Theatre in Oceanside California brought in more than 150 people over the course of the show's two day run. Many SPG Card Games were sold and a bunch of people stuck around after the shows to show their support in the lobby. The Steam Powered Giraffe robots were flabergasted at the crowded lobby and the amount of compliments, handshakes, pictures, and autographs given and received this weekend at the show (especially Saturday night). SPG has lots of upcoming performances and shows in the works so be sure to check back here often for updates! The Seaport Villiage Spring Busker Festival is right around the corner and Steam Powered Giraffe just happens to be one of the groups competing. The Steam Powered Giraffe website has been complete revamped and now includes a plethora of information, song lyrics, and links. Check back frequently as the site is still growing. The pseudo history isn't quite done yet, but it's coming soon and will be a wonderful look into the lore of the robots. Have a look around, take of your shoes and stay awhile, just don't leave them in Jon's bio, because he hasn't written one yet...but he plans on writing it soon.
